Jazz drummer Billy Cobham is a living legend and generally acclaimed as fusion’s greatest drummer of all time. His work with jazz greats such as Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, including his frequent affiliation with the top jazz, funk and fusion names in the 70s as a sideman, showcased his incredible, explosive drumming technique which has to this day made him a towering figure in the field of jazz fusion and funk fusion worldwide, and has influenced countless drummers.
Billy Cobham’s solo career kickstarted with the 1973-released Spectrum album, featuring the cooking Stratus, which rocketed to #1 on Billboard and has since become a classic in the fusion genre. Cobhams ensuing albums all more or less became classic funk and fusion-staples, putting his unique and forceful playing style on display together with meaty bass riffs, catchy themes and irresistible grooves.
For his unique Sweden project, Billy Cobham has assembled an array of top names from the Swedish jazz scene, including guitarist Ulf Wakenius, keyboardist Marcos Ubeda and bassist Lars Danielsson.
